It was in elementary school in Queens Village, New York, at a Kiwanis Club Career Night that Sherwood Weisman met a very friendly podiatrist. He visited the doctor numerous times at his office, and was introduced to the Doctor's patients as young Dr. Kildare (after the television series starring Richard Chamberlain).

Dr. Weisman saw how the neighborhood doctor gently treated his patients and alleviated the pain in their feet. He also saw how the patients were appreciative of the doctor's talents and kindness. Dr. Weisman then realized that his own scoutmaster was also a podiatrist. He researched the scope of the practice of the podiatric medical profession, and the education and training necessary to become a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. From that moment on Dr. Weisman set his sights on his life-long career as a podiatric physician.

Dr. Weisman says that a Podiatric Physician treats all foot disorders in all age groups.

Before arriving in this area in 1972, Dr. Weisman was a Clinical Instructor at The Foot Clinics of New York, affiliated with the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He was also a clinician at the foot clinic at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City.

He has served as President of the Central Florida Podiatric Medical Society, and was also President of the DeBary-Deltona Rotary Club (1980 - 1981), a service organization affiliated with Rotary International.

Dr. Weisman holds Amateur Radio License WA4HF.
